Our story

Third-generation dhobis. First-generation obsessives.

Ravindra's grandfather washed for three buildings on Saki Vihar Road with a stone, a stove and a coal iron. We kept the pride and the fussiness — and replaced everything else with German machines, fabric chemistry and software.

2019One shop, six machines

Opened on Lake Boulevard with a rule that still runs the place: no garment leaves without human eyes on every seam.

2021The care-code system

Built our garment-level tagging — every piece gets its own protocol card. Complaints dropped to almost zero; the tracker you see above was born.

Hired specialists most laundries won't: a zari conservator from Varanasi and a sneaker restorer who apprenticed in Bengaluru's resale scene.

Silk fibre is protein — like your hair. Water swells it, alkaline detergent strips it, and heat sets any stain permanently. Zari threads add a second problem: real zari tarnishes with moisture, and imitation zari bleeds dye.
Our protocol: eco hydrocarbon dry-clean at low load, colour-fix pre-test on an inside seam, roll-press (never folded press), acid-free tissue interleaving, and a breathable box-fold if it's going into trousseau storage.
DRY-CLEAN F NO BLEACH LOW IRON · CLOTH BARRIER NO TUMBLE
Cotton loves water but hates carelessness — hot dryers shrink it up to 5%, and optical brighteners in cheap detergent slowly grey your whites. Collar and cuff soil needs enzyme pre-treatment, not scrubbing.
Our protocol: 40° enzyme wash sorted by colour depth, collar-and-cuff pre-spot, low tumble to 8% residual moisture, then steam press with your preferred crease — military, soft or none.
WASH 40° MED-HIGH IRON LOW TUMBLE
Wool fibres have microscopic scales that lock together with heat + agitation — that's felting, and it's irreversible. A pashmina that meets a normal wash cycle comes out two sizes smaller and stiff as cardboard.
Our protocol: cold wet-care with neutral pH surfactant or solvent clean for structured pieces, flat-dry on mesh racks (never hung — gravity stretches knits), and finishing with vertical steam only.
HAND / WET-CARE FLAT DRY STEAM ONLY
Indigo is a surface dye — every aggressive wash bleeds a little of your jeans' character into the drain. Raw denim wants as few washes as possible; stretch denim wants zero heat or the elastane dies.
Our protocol: inside-out cold wash with dye-lock, no optical brighteners, line-dry in shade, and a light press on the seams only. Selvedge gets hand-spot cleaning between full washes.
COLD WASH 30° SHADE LINE-DRY NO BLEACH
Throwing sneakers in a washing machine breaks down midsole glue and warps toe boxes. Suede loses its nap with water; knit uppers snag; white soles yellow from UV-exposed drying.
Our protocol: disassembly (laces + insoles out), material-matched hand clean, oxygen-based sole brightening, deodorising UV cabinet, air-dry with shoe trees. Suede gets brush-and-block only.
HAND CLEAN ONLY NO MACHINE AIR DRY 48H
Hand-work is jewellery sewn onto fabric — sequins melt above 60°, mirror edges cut neighbouring threads in a drum, and zardozi wire snags on everything. Machine contact of any kind is the enemy.
Our protocol: net-bag isolation, hand-spot cleaning around the work, solvent clean face-down on padded trays, air-dry flat, then finishing with steam held 10 cm off the surface — the iron never touches the work.

Mumbai humidity means curtains hold dust, spores and monsoon damp — a hygiene wash twice a year changes the air of a room. Blackout coatings crack under heat; feather duvets clump if dried wrong.
Our protocol: dust extraction first, then high-temperature hygiene wash (or solvent clean for coated blackouts), tennis-ball tumble for even feather loft, pleat re-setting under steam, optional re-hang service.

Yes, and it's on your receipt: 48 hours from pickup window to delivery window, or 20% off that order — automatically, without you asking. We've paid it out 0.8% of the time in three years. Express orders run on a 24-hour clock with the same rule.
Every garment is photographed at pickup, so condition is documented before we touch it. If we damage or lose a piece, compensation is up to 10× the cleaning charge for that garment — in writing on the receipt. In practice: your order is tracked at six stages, which is why "lost" hasn't happened since 2023.
No. Hand the valet your pile — mixed is fine. Garments are counted with you at the door, listed on a digital receipt sent to your WhatsApp before the valet leaves, and sorted by fabric class at the atelier. Special instructions ("no crease on these trousers", "this stain is turmeric") go on the garment card.
pH-neutral, hypoallergenic surfactants for wet care; hydrocarbon (not perc) for dry-clean — gentler on fabric and skin, and what luxury houses in Europe moved to years ago. Fragrance-free finishing is available on request; just say so once and it's saved on your profile.
Sundays are fully working — 8 AM to 8 PM, same rates (no weekend surcharge, ever). Same-day pickup slots can be booked until 4 PM. True same-day *delivery* isn't something we promise — rushing is how garments get hurt — but Express gets everything back in 24 hours for +40%.
After delivery, not before — UPI link on WhatsApp, card on the valet's machine, or cash if you insist. DHOBI CIRCLE members (₹1,499/month) are billed monthly with a single statement listing every garment we touched. GST invoice on every order, automatically.
Yes — we run daily routes for hotels near JVLR, serviced apartments in Hiranandani, and Airbnb hosts across Powai (linen turnaround between check-outs is our specialty: out by 11, back by 3). Corporate accounts get a dedicated route, monthly GST billing and a service-level agreement. Message us "BULK" on WhatsApp and the accounts desk takes it from there.
